Ah a lovely Sunday morning

Sunday mornings are always such restful and relaxing ways to either end or start a week, depending on one's perspective. Sitting back with the newspaper, going to church, heading out for a soccer game, what ever your choice, Sunday mornings are always such quite and contemplative parts of the week with what to me seems to be fresher air and bluer skies.

I see the Prez took Mrs. Prez out to see a Broadway show last night. First off, who cares. I mean it's news when the President makes a decision regarding national security, the economy or some matter of government. I don't care that the guy goes out for burgers or to a Broadway show. It is just more proof that our news has gone to crap.

Speaking of crap, Jay Severin is being let back on the air, gee what a surprise that his indefinite suspension was as short as possible. Severin is scum plain and simple. Anyone with half a brain can not listen to his so called talk show without realizing that he's just an actor playing the part of a pundit. I have heard Michelle McPhee on WTKK and she has reasonable, well thought arguments which she presents from the conservative point of view. Jay Severin is no more a conservative then Paul Pierce is a jockey. He is much closer to Howard Stern than to anyone intelligent.

Oh I did take Max the Wonder Dog for a ride in my car yesterday. I noticed something very unusual when I got him back to my mother's house. For one thing he was sitting down in the passenger seat, staring straight ahead as if he were a human being. My first thought was "NOT GOOD" I was thinking there might be a pool of pee or worse waiting. Nope, thankfully all he did was to wrap his leash in the seat belt holder and then under his hind legs. Essentially hog tieing himself to the seat. Now if I can only teach him to do that.

Oh and let's not forget the Boston Fireman who is implicated in growing pot in his basement. Well we all know how Boston Firefighters don't need drug testing and here is yet more proof of that. Why don't these idiots with cushy civil service jobs understand how easy they have it? This guy is as stupid as the Registrar of Probate in Middlesex County who realized that he could make so much more money stealing quarters from the copy machines in full view of the video cameras. Wow, what a genius!!!

Just another so-so Saturday

Well I wasted Friday night watching the Red Sox game. You knew the Jays were due having lost what like 8 games in a row and then we all know how the Sox never hit for Wakefield. If he wins he needs to carry the team and if he loses it is when the knuckler isn't doing the job and like last night it is 6-3 or some number like that. I love how the weather continues its unbroken run of mediocrity. Yet another day of grey skies and drizzle to look forward to.

Today is my usual Saturday routine of laundry and shopping. I am going to miss watching the "Cuckoo" Clak Rockefeller trial during the weekend. Cuckoo Clark wants us to believe that because he is a terrible scam artist that he is by nature then mentally ill. So does this mean all those bad liars in bars who try and say they have served in Iraq since 2001 or are really only 25 with natural blonde hair are mentally ill? Well I don't question their stupidity and vapidness, I do believe that there are people who are really mentally ill and that to see people like Cuckoo Clark trying to pass off bad lying as mental illness turns my stomach.

Oh and I did a happy dance yesterday when I found what I believe to be the last 12 pack of Pepsi Throwback in North America. The pack looked like it had fallen off a truck but hey I will take it since the cans look OK. Funny thing is that I e-mailed Pepsi to tell them they were idiots if they stopped marketing such a break through product. To thank me for my insult, they sent me a t-shirt in the mail yesterday. Well I am a co-creator of the Bacon Sandwich at Wendy's :)

Have a Super Saturday everyone!

Is there such a thing as a bad Friday?

Well the last Friday of May is upon us and as usual the weather in Boston is like that of early April still. But still things are looking up. First there is the fact that the Red Sox won yesterday and are now back in first place. Josh Beckett looked just dominating and while Papelbon gave up his usual roller coaster ninth of late, he still shut the Twins down.

Last night on the news was the story about the woman in Philly who called 911 to say two black men had kidnapped she and her daughter and they were in the trunk of her car. I had seen in an earlier report how two black men with damage to their cars had been pulled over. Of course they were innocent and you can not blame the police who were answering a kidnapping of a mother and child. Still, I can't help but still be worried because I had hoped with Barack Obama's election we would have moved beyond this BS but as this case shows there are still sick evil people like this woman who try and evoke racial fear for their own twisted ends. While I oppose hate crimes, I do hope this woman gets to spend a long time in a small jail cell. Hey maybe they can put her next to that other sick person who drowned her two kids and tried to say it was a black man who car jacked her. Two peas in a pod as they say.

Lastly for today was some sad news lately and that is how badly my old Alma Mata, BC is destroying one of its finest traditions and that is Cleansweep. For those who don't know, Cleansweep is when BC Alumni and other volunteers go into the dorms after students leave for the summer and collect materials left by the departing students. This material is then offered to various local non-profits who keep it out of landfills and give it to those in need. For the past several years BC has put up every obstacle to running Cleansweep easily. This year, none of my fellow volunteers received notification of the event and as near as I can find none of the non-profits who had received goods from Cleansweep knew it was going on. It would be a real tragedy if BC were to kill of this great event but sadly the signs seems to point to a death by neglect.

Working on getting a business started

Well getting a company going is no small feet. I am currently working on getting a company started and while my partner and I have a great idea, the issue comes down to one of funding. I went and visited with the state yesterday and their idea of help was to give you a lot of forms which without going into detail offer such pearls of wisdom as, you need money to start a company and be sure to have an idea that solves a problem on the market. Fascinating that someone was paid to write that.

On my personal level, I watched Mike Judge's new TV show last night called the Goode Family. The premise is interesting, it is about this totally politically correct family who tries so hard to do everything in such a politically correct fashion. I did love how they made their dog a vegan and as a a result the poor creature is forced to hunt down other animals in the neighborhood. This one great scene had all these missing animal posters on a pole or tree that the dog had obviously eaten. The stupid mother said oh good the dog "what ever his name was I forgot" is trying to save another of nature's creatures. We have lost so many of them lately. I also liked how they tried to adopt an African baby and ended with a white kid from South Africa who they of course treat like he is black. I don't know if this will be good or not but I will watch one or two more episodes before I fully decide.

I am also wondering where summer or for that matter spring went in the Boston area? Last Thursday it was 92 degrees and we were sweating!!! Now it is raw and chilly and it feels like late March or early April. God I don't think I will ever understand New England weather! Well another bad outing by Dice-K last night has me perplexed. I mean the guy has no control we know that but 4 wild pitches and 6 overall? I also think that Big Papi needs to spend some time on the DL to ease what ever is aching him and get his mechanics worked out.

Also finished a book called Inventing Niagara by Ginger Strand. I think that's her name. I don't know how many people have ever been to Niagara Falls but this book shows just how badly it has been mismanaged but people and she gives a lot of attention to the mismanagement of Niagara Falls, NY. Niagara Falls is an amazing natural feature and I am shocked to see how polluted the area really is!

If you want to find out more about the book click on the link to its page on Amazon.

Well have a great day and don't forget that a repeat of 30 Rock is better then most new shows.

Musings on a yucky Wednesday

Well what a perfect blah day for the perfect blah portion of the week. Just be thankful this wasn't on Monday. It is always nice to sleep when it is raining and I can't help but wonder why someone hasn't opened up a napping store? Have you ever seen those pictures or videos of the tiny hotels in Tokyo where you sleep in essentially a capsule? They seem to be quite popular and I am always surprised that someone hasn't come up with one of those for over here yet? If anyone wants to partner up on an idea let me know, I can sure as heck market it.

I was saddened to see Jon Lester get hit hard last night. I am hoping he's in a temporary slump because he had such a great season last year and I would love to see it continue to. As a rule the Sox tend to stink as a team so maybe that's a good sign who knows? Oh and it is nice to see Tom Brady decide he wants to take a break from the hectic life of being a super model's arm candy and maybe take up football again. Personally I think collecting models is a better hobby but then again, no one will pay me $15 million a year to do that.

I also like President Obama's appointment to the Supreme Court. I can't speak for her politics yet, but I do believe that all American groups deserve to have their time in the sun and it is about time that a Hispanic-American be given a prominent role in the running of this country.

On tap today is a meeting with some folks from the state to see if they can actually provide support to a new business venture. Now the answer I expect is gee we would love to but due to budget constraints we can't. Now the answer I would think would be that if you can give me a dollar today, I can pay you back with two dollars plus tomorrow and onwards. But remember that politicians have to go into office because they can't work real jobs and are too dumb to be con-artists.

Welcome to my first ever blog post

Welcome to my first ever blog post. I have a wide and varied number of interests, ideas, thoughts and ideas. Sometimes I think I am the Wikipedia of useless information until I realize that Wikipedia is already the Wikipedia of useless information. Setting up this blog is long overdue and was not easy due to the fact that my blog host/partner who I will not name (Google) made it needlessly difficult.

As for those who don't know me, I am just your regular working fool, trying to survive the current recession, picking up freelance marketing and PR jobs here and all the while looking for something more permanent which in my chose profession may be a bit of an oxymoron. I do love what I am doing but it can often drive me nuts especially when those in the peanut gallery feel obliged to chime in with how my job being done. Those who work in marketing and PR and often faced with a situation that baseball Hall of Famer Leo Durocher described when questioned about his many critics as a manger. To paraphrase Leo, my job is like going to church, many attend, few understand.

So during the coming weeks and months check back for my random thoughts, actions, adventures and the banalities that passes for life.

Cheers!
Rick Sheehy
